Sangria is a wine punch popular in Spain as well as Portugal, especially during the hot summer months. Combining the wine, sugar, fruit the night before intensifies the flavors. Use whatever fruit you have on hand. Add brandy and/or orange flavored liquor (Triple Sec or Grand Marnier) for more “punch”. Want it sparkly? Add club soda or lemon-lime flavored soda.

- 1/2 cup sugar (more or less to taste)
- 1 Granny Smith Apple - peeled, cored and sliced
- 1 pt. fresh (or frozen) raspberries
- 1 pt. fresh (or frozen) blackberries
- 2 limes (or oranges) - halved and thinly sliced
- 2 cinnamon sticks - optional
- carbonated lemon-lime beverage or club soda to taste
Directions
- Combine wine, sugar, fruit and cinnamon in a large pitcher.
- Refrigerate 6 hours or overnight.
